My Approach

A Compassionate Approach to Support You

I blend deep psychotherapy with practical methods drawn from neuroscience, which allow us to focus on how stress affects both your mind and body.

This is important because it’s not just about your thoughts; stress can put your whole system in “threat” mode, keeping you on edge and making change feel impossible.

Together, we’ll focus on understanding and gently calming these responses, noticing your habits and patterns, and exploring new behaviours that can support a greater sense of self-confidence over time.

Therapy That is Tailored to You

Everyone is different, that’s why I tailor the therapy to you, your story and cultural background. I recognise that who you are and where you come from shapes how you heal.

My training as an “integrative" therapist means I can draw from a range of different disciplines to tailor your therapy to your individual needs. This includes:

Somatic (Body) Regulation – calms your body and nervous system to reduce anxiety and stress

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – I teach practical tools to change unhelpful thoughts and behaviours

Psychodynamic Therapy – we’ll explore how past experiences shape the way you see yourself and relate to others

Internal Family Systems (IFS) – helps heal inner parts of yourself that feel conflicted or wounded

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) – builds skills to help you manage strong emotions and set healthy boundaries

Neuroplasticity-Informed Therapy – uses your brain’s ability to adapt to create lasting new patterns

Client struggling with trauma-related depression and anxiety

What brought you to therapy?

I met Priyanka at a point where I wanted to stop feeling anxious and depressed all the time. I've been in therapy on and off since I was a kid.

How would you describe your experience?

Working with Priyanka felt completely different. The way she works just clicked with me, and helped me actually start to change the patterns I'd been stuck in for years. She was incredibly sweet and genuinely empathetic. She would also create personalised resources after sessions, so I had something to hold onto in the week, which is something I never had before. I never thought my confidence could grow the way it has, and I see things so differently now. I recommend her to anyone who feels hopeless or stuck.

What brought you to therapy?

I’ve never been good at opening up about what’s really going on and I didn’t realise just how much I’d bottled up over the years.

How would you describe your experience?

Working with Priyanka has been genuinely life-changing for me. She’s so patient and down to earth. She never put me on the spot but somehow asked the right questions that made me see things in a whole new way. After just a few sessions it felt like a weight had lifted I had a bit of hope and direction again that I hadn’t felt in so long. Before therapy I honestly thought I was broken and couldn’t be fixed, but Priyanka helped me see there is light at the end of the tunnel. I’ll be forever grateful for her support. Thank you ever so much.

Hi there,

My name is Priyanka Kothari. Nice to meet you!

With experience helping clients understand and manage their trauma and past difficulties, here’s what you might like to know:

Expert You Can Trust: From working in mental health services in England and Wales to now running a private practice in Manchester. I’ve supported many clients from all walks of life to process and work through their most difficult experiences.

Qualified and Registered: I’m an integrative psychotherapist with a Master’s in Counselling. I’m accredited with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I also use neuroscience-informed tools such as nervous system regulation and psychoeducation to help you understand your mind and body, and to support changes that feel manageable and lasting for you.

Tailored to You: Every client is different. Being an integrative therapist allows me to draw from multiple therapeutic approaches to shape the sessions to your unique needs, preferences, and goals.

Culturally Sensitive: I understand that who we are and where we come from shapes how we see the world. I bring cultural awareness and sensitivity to our sessions, recognising the challenges of navigating life in the UK with different backgrounds and identities. Together, we’ll create a space where every part of your identity feels understood and included.

My goal is that when you finish therapy, you feel stronger and more supported than when you started. I'm looking forward to speaking with you.
